Program Overview:

Links for Learning asks that parents spend 2-3 days a week in 15 minute coaching sessions with the
students. These sessions include:

1. Teaching sounds and letters sung to a specific alphabet song program which reviews each letter
and sound.
2. Reviewing blending concepts accompanied with catchy phrases.
3. Pre-reading books will be incorporated into each coaching session as the students are confident in
their letter recognition.

At Links for Learning, we begin our actual reading process with the short “a” vowel sound and 4
other common letters, T, D, M, N. After the students are confident with these 5 letters and sounds,
they then will start to read our basic pre-reading books. Students will learn the letters and then begin
to identify common words based on letters, i.e., at, am, ant, ad. Our first 14 books were developed
around these 5 letters/sounds and reinforce reading decoding. Success is inevitable.

About our Series Sets:

Our series sets, or reading books, were written using actual classroom experiences with students
ages 3-7 and empirical research by our reading specialists. These studies showed that students
who have a firm foundation of the short “a” vowels can easily understanding how to sound out
other words. Students will build automatic word recognition so they can effectively comprehend
and decipher what they are reading. The students will quickly progress to 8 letters by the second
book. Students will actually be reading, not memorizing the programs books.

Our quick list words are slowly incorporated into the leveled reading program. These quick
words have been seen on a daily basis during the phonic time slot and on homework flashcards.

Learning CD:

Links for Learning has developed multiple songs relating to your students education. The focus of
the CD is phonic awareness, blending, and vowel support sung to catchy phrases and hip tunes.
These songs are on a CD that can be used in relationship to the program being taught or sent
home for additional support. This is all the Links for Learning programs sing along songs!

Flashcards:

The Links for Learning reading program provides unity in learning and the flashcards build a
foundation away from the phonic time slot. Flashcards are included in the program for additional
support for your students. The alphabet and blend flashcards depict the same artistic drawings as
the phonic awareness program used during the phonic time slot.

Student Workbook

The student workbook is provided as an additional support to the phonic lessons learned in the
classroom. The student workbook is developed around the reading program and incorporates the
key points taught during each session.

Online Coaching Sessions:

Links for Learning offers online coaching and instant homework help for students in 4th- 12th
grade. In additional to our coaches sessions, we offer parents the opportunities to work
one-on-one with our teaching staff during a free online coaching session. This session ensure that
our program is being used effectively in your classrooms. Our online coach will answer any
questions or concerns about our program and will be available for parental help. Each tutoring
session takes place in our Live Chat Classrooms and is scheduled individually with you during
